The Mullet Wig

The mullet wig is a homage to something unique. Unfortunately the homage it pays is to that scourge of the 80's the mullet haircut. In retrospect we can see that the 70s had been setting us up for a fall with flared trousers, disco and the evolution of the ultra afro. But it took the growth of hair metal in the 80s to really get otherwise sensible people to express their inner mullet. Although popularized as a male hair cut, mullets are in fact an equal opportunity fashion statement.

At the height of their hypnotic powers, mullets were the top covering of choice for anyone who aspired to consider themselves a rock god or goddess. Even the epitieme of 80's manliness, He Man had a mullet. Wikipedia has captured perhaps the most pithy description of the mullet as "business in the front, party in the back"

Whither the mullet wig?

As time has passed and hair metal has acquired the status of the music once listened to by aging parents, the mullet has faded from public esteem. Or funerals if you really want to senda statement about your views on the deceased.

Mullet wigs have acquired a retro cool which you can take advantage of to emphasize your own uber hip post modern irony thingy, safe in the knowledge that at the end of the night, your mullet wig is going to come straight off.
